Princess Ring

Custom Made Princess Rings From Thailand

Princess rings are an Asian legacy and the designs are based on rings worn by members of the royal families in Asia. The princess ring RG109 that you see on this page is a classic example of a high end princess ring with multiple gemstones. The original princess rings were made in yellow gold, but modern designers have designed numerous white gold princess rings too. When you order your custom princess rings from Kaisilver, you can choose from 14k or 18k white or yellow gold and both options are priced the same. Princess rings from Kaisilver in Thailand, have now had their specifications upgraded and contain 50% to 70% more gold weight as compared to our original rings. The minimum weight of our custom princess rings is now 15 grams that is a 50% increase in weight from the earlier 10 grams ring.

Minimum Weight Is Now Upgraded To 15 Grams.

Though there are numerous designs available for princess rings, there a few features that are common to almost all designs. Among these features are a pyramid or cone shaped structure that is broad at the base and gets narrow as you move towards the top of the ring. The second feature is the setting of multiple gemstones in the princess ring. The ancient princess rings combined different gemstones that were believed to posess special properties. As expected, most princess rings included exotic gems like rubies, sapphires, emeralds and even diamonds. The rings also had a fairly narrow band with an equal band width all around. Another feature that is common to most antique jewelry is an artistic design below the gemstones (under the head of the ring). This is noticed on almost all ancient Asian princess rings.

You can today order your princess ring from Kaisilver and be assured that the classic design retains all the main features of the ancient princess rings. With direct and preferential access to over 200 million carats of gemstones, we provide you an unlimited choice of gemstones for all your jewelry. Both, yellow and white gold princess rings are available and you can choose from 14k or 18k gold. Given the large number of gemstones set in this ring and also the fairly high head for the ring, we would strongly recommend 14k gold for the ring as the hardness is ideal. However, we can custom make these princess rings in 18k or 14k gold and the final choice is yours.

Some Suggested Gemstone Combinations For Your Gold Princess Ring
(1)  A white gold princess ring with ruby, blue sapphire and white opal.
(2)  A yellow or white gold princess ring with citrine, red garnet and white sapphires.
(3)  A yellow gold princess ring with blue sapphire, ruby, emerald and white sapphire.
(4)  Yellow gold princess rings with amethyst, blue topaz and white topaz gemstones.
(5)  White gold princess ring with aquamarine, tanzanite and diamonds or white sapphires.
(6)  White or yellow gold princess rings with green tourmaline, pink tourmaline and yellow tourmaline.
(7)  Blue topaz princess rings combining Sky blue topaz, Swiss blue topaz and London blue topaz gems.

White sapphires for the smaller round gems in your princess ring will make a good substitute for diamonds. The hardness of sapphires is 9 as measured on the Moh's scale of hardness. This is second to only diamonds which have a hardness of 10 on the same scale.

Princess Rings For Special Occassions
You can order these custom princess rings as special occassion rings, the antique touch and classic design will make it a unique wedding ring or engagement ring. Depending on your budget and choice of gemstones, your princess ring could include diamonds, rubies, sapphires, emeralds and tanzanite. You could choose small diamonds to surround the center gemstone on top or go for a gorgeous 3.5mm to 4mm diamond on the top of your custom princess ring. You can choose yellow or white gold but we will still recommend 14k gold because of it's hardness. Gemstone Suggestion I: This is one of the gemstone options that you could consider for your special occassion custom made princess ring. The gemstone on top could be a 4mm or 5mm good quality ruby gemstone. The next layer of gemstones could be good quality white sapphires of size 1.75mm to 2mm round. These can be replaced by genuine diamonds if your budget permits. The pear shaped gemstones are of size 7x5mm and good quality blue sapphires would look awesome. The last row of round gemstones are of size 2.5mm round and you can choose rubies once again for this row. Rubies, sapphires, emeralds and diamonds are available in different grades and prices differ accordingly. You can email us with your requirements at sales@kaisilver.com and our team of experts will guide you with the best options to suit your budget and personal preferences. Please do not be in a hurry to place your order before exploring all options and gemstone combinations. When you make a well informed decision it is a win-win situation for both of us.

Gemstone Suggestion II: We had mentioned earlier that emeralds are also precious gemstones that are often used in special occassion rings. You could combine rubies, sapphires and emeralds in your princess ring and make a stunning wedding or engagement ring. However, there is an important note for emeralds that you should be aware of. Emeralds by nature are quite brittle due to internal inclusions and cracks. You should therefore be careful when wearing emerald jewelry as emeralds can chip and shatter even with medium impact. Further, there has been a natural oil treatment applied to emeralds since many decades, this is done to enhance the color and lustre of the gemstone and also to fill the cracks and fissures and thereby help to bind the gemstone closely. Because of these natural oils emeralds cannot be exposed to heat or washed with soap and excessive water. Once you are aware of these characteristics of the emerald gem stone you will know the kind of care that this gemstone requires. Emeralds are gorgeous gemstones and can combine superbly with rubies and sapphires in your princess ring. On the other hand if you love green colored gemstones but prefer not to take chances with emeralds, then consider other green gemstones like peridot, green tourmaline or chrome diopside. Gemstone Suggestion III: For those of you who love gemstones with blue and violet hues, make sure that your princess ring includes gemstones like aquamarine, blue sapphire, iolite, blue topaz and tanzanite. Aquamarine and tanzanite are an excellent match and the violet blue tones of good quality tanzanite gemstones will beautifully contrast with the pale blue aquamarine in your princess ring. If you prefer a blue topaz princess ring you will be amazed at the range of blue tones available in this gemstone. You can combine the very pale blue color of Sky Blue Topaz with the bright blue tones in Swiss Blue Topaz and include white topaz gems for the highlights The very deep blue shades of London Blue Topaz also makes an excellent choice for princess rings. Iolite gemstone princess rings would also look excellent and in many cases the right shade of iolite could look strikingly similar to Tanzanite. Given the fact that Iolite is much cheaper as compared to Tanzanite this is an excellent option. Another gemstone that matches perfectly with aquamarine is blue sapphire, so give this combination a thought too. Gemstone Suggestion IV: We will discuss one more set of gemstones for these custom princess rings and that is the gemstone opal. Most of you would be knowing opals as the gemstones with those hypnotizing rainbow color gems. The fact is that moisture particles are an important part of opals and cause it to get those gorgeous rainbow effects. White opals and black opals are stunning examples of opal. However there is a lesser known opal gemstone that is referred to as fire opal. Fire opals have a good degree of transparency that is not very common to other opal gemstones. The color of fire opals varies from light orange to deeper shades of orange that almost move into the reds. Opal princess rings would look amazing and the design of RG109 on our website shows white opals used for the pear shaped gemstone. An important thing about opals is that they are not very strong gemstones and need special care when being worn or stored. You should not expose your opal princess ring to heat as this might cause the opal to 'dry up' and the spectacular color play that is created by the moisture inside the gemstone would no longer be visible.

Importance Of Weight And Metal Hardness
Buyers are often impressed by jewelry with low price tags. Jewellers realize this and churn out lightweight designs that have a skinny and flimsy structure thus requiring a low gold weight. You should however realise that cheap jewelry is cheap only in the short run and frequent repairs and modifications not only add to the price but also ruin the jewel. Princess rings have many gemstones mounted in them, the head of the ring is conical in shape and rises quite high above the finger. This means that the ring needs to be made more sturdy and durable and the most important factor to achieve this, is a good gold weight. The Kaisilver custom princess ring has been upgraded with a minimum weight of 15 grams. Since we do not mass produce jewelry and each piece is provided individual attention by some of the world's finest craftsmen, we ensure that the gold weight is proportionate to the design and ring size in every case. The origin of the princess ring dates back to many centuries and gold was abundantly available in those times. The goldsmith never had to worry about controlling gold weight and pleasing mass markets! This is how Kaisilver continues to make all custom high end jewelry and every jewel weighs around 50% to 60% more as compared to what others would offer for similar designs. The healthy gold weight for your princess ring will ensure that the ring remains strong and retains shape for a long time. The many gemstones and diamonds in the ring will also be firmly mounted and you will not run a risk of them dropping off.

Long term durability of these custom princess rings will among other things, be dependent on gold weight and the hardness of gold. Gold in it's purest form is referred to as 24k gold. It is very soft in this form and not suitable for jewelry making. Pure gold is is mixed with other metals like silver and copper to form a harder alloy that can be used for making jewelry. Depending on the proportions of gold and other metals in the alloy, terms like 14k gold or 18k gold are used to describe gold used in jewelry making.

These variations in gold also mean different hardness for the gold. So 14k gold which has 58% of gold and 42% of other metals, is much harder as compared to 18k gold which has 75% gold content and 25% of other metals. You will notice that the hardness of gold increases as the gold content in the final alloy decreases. Coming back to the custom princess ring, the ring would ideally be made in 14k white or yellow gold. There are a few reasons why a 14k princess ring would be a better choice as compared to an 18k princess ring. The first reason is the basic structure of the ring which has a high cone shaped head. It would important to ensure that the head of the princess does not bend or dent at the smallest impact. For this, good gold weight and good hardness of gold will be an ideal combination. Now observe the intricate 'basket' like design below the head of the ring. This is an antique design and adds to the beauty of the princess ring. The design needs to be protected from bending and denting and is one other reason why 14k gold is more suitable. Move over to the band of the custom princess ring and you will see that it is fairly narrow and has a uniform width all around. It is supposed to look delicate and yet not be fragile and this requires gold with a good degree of hardness. Finally, the numerous gemstones or diamonds in the ring need to be firmly set in the mounting. A solid gold weight will allow perfect mounting and this will play a vital role in the longterm durability of your princess ring. Few sellers will provide you with such clear and straightforward explanations, but at Kaisilver we believe that keeping you completely informed is the perfect way to ensure that you get good value for the money you spend.

Budgeting For Your Custom Princess Ring
With the large number of gemstone options available and the options to replace the white sapphires in the princess ring with diamonds, most buyers are confused about what exactly they want and also whether they can afford what they want. We will present a few guidelines here and you can send specific queries to sales@kaisilver.com and have our team of experts explain options and pricings to you. We have already mentioned this above and will repeat it here, please do not make a hasty decision. You are under no obligation to make a purchase so get all the information you need and then decide whether you want to make a purchase.

The first aspect you need to consider is the gemstones to be used for your custom princess ring. As the tables below will show, there are four groups of gemstone options. Gemstones like topaz, citrine, amethyst etc are quite inexpensive gemstones. If you are more particular about the color of the gemstones rather than the gemstones themselves, try to find colors that interest you in this group as prices will be moderate. The next group that includes aquamarine, iolite, tourmaline etc is a bit more expensive. Moving to the fourth group of gemstones you will notice that we have classified the gemstones into grades. Rubies, sapphires, emeralds and tanzanite are gemstones that are available in different grades (qualities) and prices can vary widely across different grades. If you are ordering your custom princess ring for casual wear then go for the medium grade in these gemstones. You would normally set bigger budgets for special occassion rings and that would allow the higher quality of these gemstones to be used. The next decision that will affect the price of the princess ring is whether to include or leave out diamonds. Go for diamonds by all means if they are within your price range and also remember that even the 4mm round gemstone at the very top of the ring can be replaced with a genuine diamond. However, you have a good option of using white sapphires instead of diamonds and yet retaining the overall appearance of the princess ring. Sapphires are sturdy and durable gemstones as they come second only to diamonds in terms of hardness. White sapphires are also much cheaper than diamonds.

There is an option to replace these with genuine diamonds, the pricing on the table below is for genuine white sapphire or other gemstones.
